Garfield & Hecht’s litigation group includes several seasoned trial attorneys, each with over 20 years of active courtroom and arbitration experience. Our attorneys gained substantial trial experience as members of commercial litigation departments at large law firms based in Denver, Philadelphia and New York City. They have continued their active trial practices since relocating to Aspen in the 1980’s and 1990’s. An experienced, full-service litigation group supports the principal trial attorneys at Garfield & Hecht. It includes several litigation associate attorneys, paralegals and legal assistants. The litigation group is versed in many types of commercial litigation, including land use, construction, contracts, real estate, products liability, as well as family law and personal injury. The lead trial lawyer for a particular matter ensures it is properly staffed on a cost-efficient basis. Garfield & Hecht has made a substantial investment in information technology and has courtroom technological capability of a top-notch litigation boutique. We are able to litigate cases with and against any firm.

Our trial attorneys have all handled numerous trials and hearings in the Ninth Judicial District (Glenwood Springs and Aspen courthouses) and in the Fifth Judicial District, which covers Eagle and Summit counties. In addition, all of our lawyers have extensive courtroom experience in other county and district courts throughout the State of Colorado. We also practice extensively in the United States District Court for the District Court of Colorado, as well as other federal and state courts in other jurisdictions. We also practice exclusively before various arbitration entities including the American Arbitration Association and the Judicial Arbiter Group in Denver. The Garfield & Hecht transactional practice group includes several seasoned attorneys, some of whom have over 30 years of active experience. Before joining Garfield & Hecht, these attorneys gained substantial experience as members of commercial transactional departments in large law firms based in Denver, New York, Pennsylvania, and Washington D.C., they have continued their active practices in The Roaring Fork and Vail Valleys. An experienced staff supports the attorneys at Garfield & Hecht, which includes excellent associate attorneys, paralegals and a number of legal assistants. The transactional practice group is versed in handling all types of business transactions including buying and selling real estate, leasing, lending, commercial law, and the sale and purchase of businesses, including leveraged buy-outs. To support the practice Garfield & Hecht has made a substantial investment in information technology and has a technological capability comparable to much larger firms.
