Speaker of the House of the Colorado House of Representatives, Crisanta Duran, appointed Mr. Bryan to the post: [link to appointment letter]. His term expires on November 30, 2021.
Commissions on Judicial Performance were established in Colorado in 1988 to provide voters with fair, responsible, and constructive evaluations of trial and appellate judges and justices seeking retention under Colorado’s merit selection and retention program for the judiciary. The results of the evaluations also provide judges with information that can be used to improve their professional skills as judicial officers. Each judicial district’s performance commission consists of several attorneys and non-attorneys from across the political and ideological spectrum.
The Judicial Performance Commission for the Ninth Judicial District serves the three counties—Pitkin, Garfield, and Rio Blanco—located within that district. The Ninth Judicial District has five district court judges and several magistrates and county court judges.
Mr. Bryan is a Shareholder and the Chair of the Litigation Dept. at Garfield & Hecht, P.C. He primarily practices in the firm’s Aspen office.
